Pandit Maruti Patil hails from Miraj of Sangli district, considered as the pilgrimage for Hindustani Classical music. Various mastero’s hails from this same place like great Ustad Abdul Karim Khan Saheb, Prof. B. R. Deodhar, Pt. V. D. Paluskar, etc. He learnt Sitar basics from his father and Mr. S. S. Kulkarni, his quest for a guru took him to Mumbai where destiny showered on him the teachings and blessings of Sitar Mastro Pt. Arvind Parikh, whose guidance blossomed him into one of the leading Sitar exponent in the Vilayat (Itawa) Khani Gharana.
A perfectionist by temperament and dynamic in spirit, his training led him successfully to the gharana ideology of Vilayat Khani gharana which is well-known for its Gayeki style.
So is Maruti Patil whose melody charms the music lovers by defining every Swar and Alap significantly with its own beauty. Continuing Vilayati gharana tradition of Meend and specific control over microtone made him a master who rationally decorates his art with the gems of swar. Adhering to all the guidelines and rules of Vilayati gharana he developed different TAAN pattern and played in various TAAL and various type of AAALAP in ZAALA. Listening to all these creations and art gives a divine and special experience to all avid listeners and novice also.

He is regular and visiting faculty for Israel, Switzerland and Germany University and allied educational institutes. He has performed and/or conducted workshops in England, U.S.A., Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Dubai and having disciples all over the world spreading across the traditional music.
Currently, he resides at Thane in Maharashtra (India).He is managing a musical academy named “Omkar Academy of Music” , where one can acquire training in various Indian and western instruments and Music.
