Important
Facts / Suggestions / Advice to the students
|
| |
| What
can you achieve in a Short Term Course?
|
|
Foremost,
students must understand the importance of learning at
this Holy Institution. It will be rather irrational to
imagine that one can become a great artist in a short
span of time (The finest artists at present achieved
their eminence due to a lot of hard slog and dedication
they put in their art over years); to learn here is a
Golden opportunity which one should heartily acknowledge
as the blessing bestowed upon us by our Divine Mother.
What one achieves here is a lot more than just
education. By the virtue of it being an institution of
art, this is the place where one experiences the Global
collectivity for a long time unlike the International
Seminars where we find such collectivity but for a day
or two. Students get to know each other besides various
cultural exchanges as well. This establishment is a
pedestal where spiritual compliance itself becomes a
medium of spiritual ascent, not only on a gross level
but more deeply on a subtle level. In our daily lives,
there are situations and things which bind us to a
monotony that does not permit us to be meditative most
of the time and uphold that state. As a result of which
our subtle mechanism does not get use to the functioning
of Kundalini all the time. On the contrary, by the
blessings of H.H. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi this abode
allows us not only to ascend on a subtle level but also
our system adapts itself beautifully to the ever working
Kundalini. Hence, even after leaving this heavenly place
one is easily able to introspect and know his meditative
state, The Kundalini ascends within no time and
contemplation happens effortlessly. Therefore
this Academy is not merely an Institution of learning
Art but a Research centre where people get generous time
to introspect, contemplate and conduct a spiritual
research on them – On a Subtle and Gross level where Art
is the medium to know and raise them to a higher degree
of their divine self.

| 1)
Any Indian art does not depend on the time (duration)
and monetary aspect. |
|
Students at the
academy should understand the importance of building up
a proper base for the progression of art in them; as it
is a living process which takes time to grow. This
however does not depend on the time and money one spends
here as learning capacity of every individual varies
just like their kundalinies, hence it can be less
learning in more time or vice-versa. Besides the
education, students also experience a new height in
their overall ascent as learning is possible anywhere
but sahaj learning is possible only at the Mother’s
abode. |
| |
| 2)
Factors affecting the learning of a particular art form.
|
|
Learning any art form does not
purely depend on a person’s inclination, ability,
absorption capacity, dedication and knowledge about a
particular subject or art form. It equally depends on
the kind of atmosphere and circumstances that makes a
person grow artistically into it. For instance, in spite
of being a good artist and performer if the
family does not support it, the artist is not driven
or inspired enough to do all by himself.
|
| |
| 3) How to choose a
subject. |
|
Students should be discreet
enough to justify their choice of subject in combination
with the inherent and intrinsic qualities they possess
to learn that specific art form. A perfect blend of
inclination, liking, ability and dedication should match
the requirements that the subject needs from the artist.
The aptitude to recognize the needs of an art form is an
indispensable aspect of learning. For example: Perfect
body language, flexibility and expressions make any
dance form exude its beauty, a mix of these qualities
therefore, is a pre-requisite to learn
dancing. |
| 4) Make your learning an enjoyable
and a self-motivating process. |
|
Students should always strive
to derive pleasure in every step, every stage of
learning as ‘learning is akin to gaining wisdom’ – Never
ending and a lifetime process. It is only when we start
to enjoy art that the vibrations flow. We get this
pleasure due to the vibrations instilled in an art by
the Divine, hence learning that art comes as a perfect
manifestation of the Divine’s creation in our lives.
Regular practice and a penchant of developing an
individual way to present the art drive a person more to
learn his or her subject with eloquence and finesse.
|
| |
| 5) Be a keen observer. |
|
Observation is one of the best
ways to increase one’s IQ in a subject. To observe the
Guru, his way and style are as good as learning from
him. This observing process is a vital instrument in
one’s advancement in learning, In the stipulations of
the Guru –Shishya Parampara (Master – Disciple
tradition), it is a source of inspiration with which one
should fine tune his or her art and discover their own
way to practice and perform articulately. Their
aesthetic learning should reflect not only in their art
but their lifestyle as well. The best instance here
would be Mother Nature herself - how well the flora and
fauna live and function in perfect harmony, they observe
the changes in nature and adapt themselves to grow
in symphony. |
| |
| 6) Make the best use of your
Swadhishthana Chakra. |
|
Any art does not function on
defined rules and protocols; there arises a constant
call for innovation and spontaneity. One should always
endeavor to bring along the changes, innovate and do
something more ingenious with an artistic sense to
decorate your art in the most beautiful way. Craft your
own uniqueness creatively captivating art as a medium
that defines you the best. |
| |
| 7) Presentation skills. |
|
World around, time and now –
Appreciation and Admiration is what an artist craves
for.Perfect presentation enchants the spectators,
vibrations of the art reach their heart, touch the soul,
engulfs the atmosphere in its charisma and the outcome
is Divine enjoyment and appreciation for all.
|
| |
| 8) Utilize your time to the best.
|
|
Use your available time to
enhance your knowledge by practicing as it ensures your
skill proficiency. If ‘Theory forms the scientific
base’, ‘Practical shapes the Art’. Practice is an
important element to perfect both of these. A good
impression is what leads to a good expression.
|
| |
| 9) Make use of vibrations in your
art. |
|
Your learning, your art and
your life should be the perfect manifestation of the
teachings of our Divine mother – H.H. Shri Mataji
Nirmala Devi. It is a must for us to understand that we
are not any artist but Sahaj artists; our art should
reflect in our lives and should function in
perfect harmony guided by the teachings of our Holy
Mother. Our Art should be an approach to express our
love, devotion and gratitude towards Shri Mataji
therefore it should imbibe all the qualities and
vibrations with which we can praise our Divine Mother.
|
| |
| 10) Understanding the needs of a
specific subject. |
|
Recognizing the needs to learn
a particular art form is the first step in its
learning for learning is easy but aesthetic
learning calls for the recognition of its character,
instilling those qualities and then performing it. For
instance – A pre-requisite to learn Dancing is to be
physically fit and possess a flexible body that adds an
element of grace to it, breathing exercises help in
voice culture without which vocal music is not possible.
Listening to good music casts a good impression and
increases the musical IQ. |
| |
| 11) Try to gain knowledge of
complementary subjects. |
|
It is advisable to gain some
base knowledge of complementary subjects which are often
used as the accompaniments for the performances. For
example: Tabla and Harmonium are used for Vocal music,
Mridangam and Carnatic music used for various dance
forms, painting is required to decorate pottery etc .
|
| |
| Conclusion: |
|
Art is not merely a boon or an
instinctive quality. It can be well described as a fibre
which is minutely present in all of us; its aesthetic
development is what makes a well-known artist out of
that individual. Time has given us maestro’s in various
fields of art whose international fame today is an
amalgamation of years of hard work, dedication,
introspection, practice and ever-increasing ‘ Bhakti ’ (
Devotion ) for their Guru . |
|
Above all, ‘Contentment’ is
the most indispensable quality needed for an artist, for
expectations with oneself leads to stress and anger
which further takes an artist to a state of depression
and frustration with oneself; this however is relative
to being Competitive which one should not cease to be as
this ever innovative spirit ensures continuous evolution
of an artist and the manifestation of his
art. |
|
Therefore it is appropriate to
say that Art is not just about developing it but what
elevates the artist above all the superficial aspects of
life to the pinnacle of spirituality |
